A static caravan is more like a holiday home than a caravan, as it remains in the same place all year round and is equipped with all the home-from-home comforts you can’t live without, even when you’re on holiday!

Generally larger than a touring caravan, static caravans and holiday homes come in different shapes and sizes, as well as basic, deluxe and luxury versions offering many different mod-cons to make you feel right at home.

Unlike touring caravans, which usually have seating areas that transform into beds, static caravans and holiday homes come with one or two bedrooms and can usually sleep up to six people. In many cases the caravan park owners rent out the static caravans on a week-by-week or night-by-night basis, whereas other static caravans will be privately owned and only used by that family and their friends.

Whether you choose to rent or buy a holiday home or static caravan will depend on how often you plan to use it, for example if you want to stay for six weeks during the summer holidays and most weekends it is probably more cost effective to buy a holiday home or static caravan. However if you only plan to use the holiday home or static caravan on an occasional weekend or plan to travel around the UK, it will be more advisable to rent a holiday home or static caravan when and where you need to.

Static caravans and holiday homes come with many accessories, which include a dining area, gas fire in the lounge, heating througout, cooker, oven, grill, shower, fridge freezer, microwave, hooked-up electricity and gas cylenders. Some caravans now also have a TV, DVD and video recorder, along with satellite or digital TV channels.

Although most static caravans and holiday homes come with bathroom facilities, you will also find that most static caravan parks and holiday home parks provide ladies and gents toilets, shaver points, showers, chemical toilet/waste disposal point, barbecue point and barbecue hire, and recycle bins for cans, glass, paper etc.

There are many benefits to choosing a holiday home or static caravan over a touring caravan, but the main ones are the extra home-from-home comforts a static caravan or holiday home provides, along with ease of being able to drive up and settle in right away without having to pitch the caravan, etc.
